Funded training places for mature aged job seekers or health worker

Health Skills Australia is pleased to announce we have been awarded funding by the Victorian Department of Innovation, Infrastructure and Regional Development under the Experience Counts Program.

There are two separate funding streams :

Disability and Ageing Maturity – aimed at providing a return to career pathway for mature aged jobseekers with relevant experience and/or qualifications in disability and ageing community care.

In Healthy Hands – aimed at providing a return to career pathway for mature aged health workers with previous experience and qualifications in nursing and/or patient care.

What is on offer?

Disability and Ageing Maturity

Participants in the program will undertake a Certificate IV in Service Coordination (Ageing and Disability). The bulk of the course will be undertaken in the classroom but there will be some on-line or distance education as well. The course will also contain a practical and work experience component. HSA will provide workplace mentoring, job coaching and placement.

Courses will be held in Ringwood, Shepparton, Wodonga, Bendigo and Mildura commencing on 1st September 2009 and completing in February 2010.

In Healthy Hands

Participants will be retrained or upskilled in nationally accredited units of competency from the Health and Business Services Training Packages. This course is aimed at nurses or others with patient care experience who wish to reenter the workforce either at a clinical or supervisory role.

Courses will be held in Ringwood, Shepparton, Bendigo and Traralgon commencing on 1st September 2009 and completing in February 2010.

Who is eligible?

Disability and Ageing Maturity

Mature age job seekers with experience or qualifications in aged care, community care, home care or disability work or related field.

In Healthy Hands

Mature age workers or jobseekers with nursing qualifications or patient care experience.
